In-Patient Unit
Our In-Patient Unit is designed to maximise the comfort and quality of life for all of our patients. Patients may be referred for a variety of reasons, such as help with difficult symptoms – like pain, or breathlessness – for emotional and family support, for planned respite care, or for care at the very end of life.

Our hospice unit has 14 single rooms available; each room is comfortable and private, with direct access to an outdoor area. Every room has a TV, fridge, tea / coffee making facilities, ensuite shower room, a sofa bed if family need to stay and additional access to a visitor’s family room with Sky TV available in the communal sitting room. Fresh food is prepared daily by our chef who will aim to accommodate the patient’s personal taste and requirements.
St Benedict’s Hospice and Centre for Specialist Palliative Care is a smoke free environment and smoking is not allowed anywhere on the premises or within the grounds by anyone. E-Cigarettes can only be used outside and away from doors and windows. The charging of E-cigarettes is not permitted on the premises.
We realise that people may feel anxious or uncertain about coming to a hospice. Patients and their families are more than welcome to visit prior to attending the hospice, to get to know our facilities. Our staff are on hand to listen to any queries, worries or concerns a prospective patient or their family may have.
