Living with a serious illness such as cancer can affect your mental health as well as your physical health. Uncertainty over the future whilst dealing with pain or other symptoms can be difficult to deal with, particularly if you find it hard to talk about sensitive issues or have nobody to confide in.

The Out of Hours Specialist Palliative Care Team consists of qualified nurses who work closely with all of the services at St Benedict’s Hospice providing care in your own home.
The team are available from 5.00pm until 8.30am every night and all day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays, providing support, nursing care and symptom management to patients with palliative and end of life care needs. For advice and support they can be contacted on 07798 925128, or a home visit can be arranged in advance by the district nurse. The team aim to respond to any unplanned need or crisis within the hour.
The team liaise with the District Nurse, GP, Specialist Nurse or any other health professional involved in the patient’s care to ensure the best and safest care possible is received.
