Bereavement Support

Bereavement Counselling Service

The Bereavement Counselling Service at St Benedict’s Hospice provides one to one counselling to families experiencing bereavement. We are able to offer counselling to carers and family members facing the loss of a loved one and through the bereavement process. We can also offer counselling to patients coming to terms with their diagnosis and with their own feelings of loss.

Coping with the loss of a loved one can feel overwhelming. Often it is difficult to talk to those close to you about your fears and anxieties, concerns about the future and the difficult emotions you are experiencing. Talking to a counsellor offers you a confidential, safe place to be listened to, understood and accepted, to help you to make sense of how you feel at this difficult time.

The service is provided by fully trained and qualified counsellors.

Bereavement Support Group

Bereavement is a unique experience for each individual and those who attend may be at different stages of their grief. It can be helpful to talk to others who may be experiencing similar feelings to yourself and share experiences. The group provides an opportunity for mutual support and understanding and is facilitated by a Bereavement Counsellor. The group is open to any bereaved friend or relative of a patient who was supported by St Benedict’s Hospice or Specialist Palliative Care Services.
