Make A Will Month
Our Make a Will Month is an opportunity for you to make or update your Will, and ensure that those you care about will be provided for in the way that you wish.
During May and October, local solicitors across the region have kindly donated a number of appointments to help you make or update your Will.
Writing your Will is beneficial at any stage of life. If you get married, buy a property or have a family, these changes will directly affect your estate.
Instead of paying the solicitor for their expertise, your donation will instead come to St Benedict's Hospice.
By leaving a gift in your Will, your support will create a lasting legacy, helping St Benedict's Hospice to continue to provide the very best of care and support to those in need in your local community today and in the future.
Of course, we hope that it will be many years before we benefit from your generosity, but when the time comes please be assured St Benedict's Hospice will put your gift to good use.

Thank you to the following solicitors who are generously supporting this scheme. We are very grateful to them for giving up their time in this way. please note that some solicitors have restricted appointments so please book early to avoid disappointment.
Leave a Legacy
By leaving even the smallest of legacies, you could continue your commitment to support the Hospice in the future; ordinary supporters make an extraordinary difference. By leaving us a gift in their Will, every year ordinary supporters of St Benedict’s Hospice from every part of our community help to give extraordinary care to our patients.
Even the smallest of gifts in your Will can ensure that we can make a big difference to the lives of our patients, helping them to make the most of the time they have with their family and loved ones.
You can choose to remember us in your Will in several different ways:
- A residual gift: what is left of your estate after any specific legacies have been made. You can give all or a portion of this as a gift. This is often the most beneficial type of gift as it tends to hold its value.
- A specific gift: an item, such as jewellery, an antique or even a property.
- A pecuniary gift: a set amount of money.
If you have not already seen a solicitor you should make an appointment to discuss your wishes, or why not take advantage of St Benedict’s Hospice Make a Will Month? After you have provided for your loved ones it is easy to leave your gift to St Benedict’s, free of Inheritance Tax.
If you have already made a Will you can add a gift to St Benedict’s by drawing up a codicil, a simple addition to your Will. Simply send it to your solicitor who should not charge you for adding it to your existing Will, or do this through one of our Make a Will Months which are held in June and November each year. Through Make a Will Month you can make your Will through one of our participating solicitors free of charge in return for a donation to the hospice.
